Hello! Some of you by now have, I’m sure, noticed that Ireland and the Age of Revolutions has fallen rather silent. I started a new job not too long ago and have been busy settling into a new routine and decided to put this on the back burner. Similarly, I found myself feeling frustrated and burnt out chasing deadlines - which I set for myself mind you, but regardless I decided a break was needed. I still wanted to write one last post to provide an update of sorts as 2023 draws to a close and we move into a new year.
I have been very poor in keeping active - I'm still out and about and taking photos but in terms of writing pieces I just have not had the time - like yourself I have started a new job and I think the challenge is getting into the routine for the new year. Best of luck for 2024
I totally understand how jarring a career change can be! I do hope that if you're able, you'll continue in some way to publish on Irish radicalism and especially on the United Irishmen. This is a selfish hope, of course, because it will inform my own interest in transatlantic radicalism. In any case, congratulations on the new job and Happy New Year!
That is the plan. I've still been doing a lot of reading and writing, just away from here. Hope to start posting in about a month or so, or early Spring!

All the best with it David, I'm sure we'll both be up and churning out great pieces in no time. Happy New Year and here's to a great 2024.
Hi Ruairi,
Congrats on taking a break. It's essential every now and again.
My favourite article was the one on the O'Rourke sisters. I loved how it showed the impact of events on personal lives.
Best wishes for a happy Christmas and New Year.
Eliz
Thank you so much Eliz! It was definitely one of my favourites too - certainly a different and important perspective.
I hope you've had a good year, and Happy Christmas and New Year.
